We give new life to batteries from electric vehicles
Batteries that are no longer ideal for powering vehicles can, after thorough assessment, safely serve for many more years in stationary energy storage systems.
How the second life of batteries works
Every day we contribute to a greener future
By giving batteries a new use, we actively help save valuable raw materials and prevent unnecessary waste.
Installed storage capacity
CO2 emissions saved
Batteries reused

First life
Batteries from modern electric vehicles are highly efficient and long-lasting. After their original service, 65 % of them still retain an average of more than 80 % of their original capacity. Some never made it into an electric vehicle and their condition is equivalent to new.
Every year we source tens of tons of batteries from our suppliers and provide expert assessment for their new use in energy applications.

- Batteries from test series
- Batteries from production surplus
- Batteries with specification deviations

Partner

ECOBAT is a Czech non-profit that has provided collection, sorting and recycling of waste batteries for more than 20 years. It operates a network of nearly 28,000 collection points — from everyday cells to batteries from electric vehicles.
“Used batteries from electric vehicles will increase dramatically in the coming years. Manufacturers will take some of them back, but for the large volumes ahead we will need to build an efficient system of collection and further use.”

New use
Batteries in our hands undergo thorough testing on our sorting line, including measurement of safety and capacity parameters that indicate their condition and expected lifespan. Those that meet our high standards are ready for new use, whether in energy storage systems or other applications.
- Batteries suitable for energy storage
- Batteries suitable for other applications
- Batteries unsuitable for further use
Recycling or second life?
Our solution directly meets the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, which supports extending the battery life cycle and reusing batteries before recycling.
Unlike older regulations, it distinguishes between waste and reusable material and explicitly supports the second-life concept: redeploying batteries in other applications, such as stationary energy storage.
Circular economy
We understand the circular economy as a way to extend the battery life cycle and extract maximum value from every manufactured resource.
Instead of the linear make-use-dispose approach, we give batteries a new life and increase the efficiency of the entire chain.

Battery storage systems
Batteries that pass a demanding measurement and testing process are equipped with a modern and safe 1PS BMS and installed in battery storage systems, where they reliably serve for many more years.
- Home energy storage
- Industrial storage
- Grid-scale storage
- Backup systems
- Load balancing
- Peak shaving
Technology that keeps batteries under control
Proper battery management is the foundation of safe and efficient operation. That is why we use our own 1PS BMS battery management system, which provides monitoring, cell balancing and battery system protection in real time.
The system autonomously monitors battery condition and protects it against overheating, overcurrent, short circuit and excessive discharge. This allows batteries to operate reliably in demanding energy applications.

Frequently asked questions
Are second-life batteries safe?
Yes, if they undergo thorough technical assessment and are operated in a system with appropriate management and protections.
Why not recycle the battery right away?
Because if it is still technically fit, it can serve for many more years in a less demanding stationary application.
Where do the batteries come from?
From various verified sources, whether directly from car manufacturers or from vehicles after accidents, fleets or production surplus.
What happens to unsuitable batteries?
Unsuitable batteries are sent for professional recycling and material recovery.
